1998 The year is spent gigging, recording and squabbling. The general tone of Scaramangas material sinks even deeper into bitter attacks on anyone or anything in their way. Performances are erratic, lavish and ear-splittingly loud. Bigger audiences turn up like chickens in a slaughterhouse to be insulted by Scaramanga. They love it. Bailey is unfortunately likened to the guitarist from AC/DC in some review, but he cannot be stopped. Breaks between songs are non-existant and the band remain defiant. An ill-fated studio session in York ends with the engineer admitting to liking Tears for Fears and 10CC. That is it! The band boycott York, forever. |
