Bad Time Music EP & DEARTH postponement

An update of rock activity from your faithful cinematic punkers, The Scaramanga Six. We sincerely hope you are ‘digging’ the GLUT album we released a couple of months back – and as you may know, there is more to come!

We announced back then that the plan was to release the second album ‘DEARTH’ in quick succession, however we’ve changed the schedule slightly – We felt that the ‘shape’ of DEARTH wasn’t quite right so have taken the decision to remove a few of the tracks and instead write and record another set in their place to improve the overall flow and feel of the record. This is the great thing about being truly independent and DIY – we can fiddle around with things to perfect our art, to get things exactly how we want. This amendment should only prove to cause a mild delay to the album’s release and therefore the improved DEARTH will now be scheduled to assault your very eardrums in October this year. Watch this space for more news…

In the meantime, we have an interim EP release based around the balls-out rocker ‘BAD TIME MUSIC’ from the GLUT album which will be available from Bandcamp and all the usual digital outlets on Monday 9th June. As well as the rocking title track themed around the making the mistake of telling business associates at a networking event that you ‘play in a band’, the rest of the EP will feature a trio of brand new, as-yet unreleased tracks yoinked from the original DEARTH running-order – no sub-standards going on here, just that we felt these ones just weren’t fitting. They were ‘Just Like Nothing on Dearth’.

These tunes will be ‘Thems the LAWs’ (a rock & rolling romp about the nefarious investment portfolios of music streaming platform CEOs), ‘Salted Caramel’ (an 80s prog belter about the ignorance epidemic in the USA) and ‘Russian Dolls’ (an epic and atmospheric builder-upper concerning a tale of a man’s cadaverous and macabre collection of ‘playthings’).

Links to Bandcamp et al to follow on release day + also watch this space for an exclusive featuring the ridiculous new promo video for ‘Bad Time Music’ to titillate both ears and eyes.

Stay GLUTenous!

GLUT – our 11th album OUT NOW!

Happy Friday to you all,

TODAY marks the auspicious occasion where we are proud to let loose our brand new album ‘GLUT’. Enormo-thanks to those of you who have already pre-ordered via BandCamp – your downloads should be available right now and those who ordered the deluxe CD will find them winging their way to you for early next week.

GLUT is primarily available via BandCamp here: https://thescaramangasix.bandcamp.com/album/glut

It will also be available via all the usual download and streaming platforms from today, even the evil ones. Please fill your boots with our racket and don’t forget to share the love (or indeed hate) wherever you can.

———————————————————————————————-

In 2025, The Scaramanga Six celebrate 30 years of existence with the release of TWO full-length studio albums. The first of which, released via our own long-running label Wrath Records (via BandCamp) TODAY is titled ‘GLUT’. This will be followed swiftly in July by another called ‘DEARTH’. Recorded together, but two distinct entities, these albums represent their eleventh and twelfth long-players respectively.

GLUT

In the near future, much of human life is nothing more than a fever dream of consumption. Convenience is the main method of governance and effort is considered the enemy of the people. After being repeatedly shown a fantastic promise of both having and eating your cake, the reality is that society is already sliced lengthways, yet somehow expected to live on like a truncated earthworm. Angry people in local newspapers bang their pots and pans as they ascend Mount Stupid, searching for their next English unsettlement.

‘GLUT’ follows on from the frantic murky bleakness of ‘Worthless Music’ (2021) and the sprawling, all-over-the-shop dystopian double-album vision of ‘Chronica’ (2017). However, this year’s new releases actually present the band in a more direct, polished and accessible style, musically. But expect no punches to be pulled in terms of their trademark raw energy and dark lyrical prowess. You’ll find The Six’s many tropes employed wilfully – unapologetic slabs of vocal density, twists and turns of bludgeoning rock & rule, unexpected soulful subtleties and lavish musical maximalism.

As ever, we truly appreciate your support – in these confusing times, it means the world to an underground band hell-bent on plying their art. Since inception in 1995, The Scaramanga Six have existed in a parallel universe where viability means NOTHING, yet art is EVERYTHING. All this time, we continue to plough our zeitgeist-defying furrow, undeterred by trifling matters such as logic, finances or any other metric you’d care to consider. Though loosely operating in the format of ‘cinematic punk rock music’, what remains is a singular entity propelled by willpower alone. We are a life-sentence band, showing very little sign of evaporation.

Take care & be kind

Steve/Paul/Julia/Gareth

Our 30th Year – two new albums set for release in 2025

In our 30th year of rocking, we can proudly announce the launch of not one but two new studio albums. We’ve been secreted away during last year at The Old Cider Press, Fladbury with Dave Draper. The result are two long-players full of the usual mind-flaying cinematic punk nonsense. We have redoubled our efforts. We cannot find a reason to cease.

The first album is entitled GLUT and will be launched in April 2025. Then in July, we will release the second called DEARTH.

Pre-order links, videos and other strangeness will appear in the coming days…

A slew of northern dates this coming winter…

Hey folks,
We are once again appearing up around the north of England this coming November/December. Here are the dates:

Friday 24th November – The Grove, Leeds
Saturday 25th November – Vinyl Tap, Preston
Friday 8th December – 1 in 12 Club, Bradford
Saturday 9th December – Puzzle Hall, Sowerby Bridge

A quick word on how it all works for us in getting gigs. We do this in our spare time. In our normal lives we run businesses, have families and generally do lots of juggling. We are also spread around the country. We have a stark choice with what time we collectively have left, which is very little. Either we plot some time for the odd get-together and rehearsal, or get some dates in for recording our next release, or we try and get our diaries lined up for a few weekends to do gigs. Strategic weekends seem to work with a few months notice. We don’t have a booking agent and approaching any venue we’ve never played before is akin to cold-calling. Luckily, we’ve built up some wonderful relationships with other bands, venues and promoters in various places through the years and this occasionally means we get to play gigs in places where people want us to play. There’s no rhyme or reason to this, but suffice it to say, we dearly love playing and gladly do so whenever we can wherever we are asked. So you’ll probably guess that pulling together a couple of weekends of gigs in and around Yorkshire where the majority of us live is going to be easier than a Wednesday night in the South East where four of us would have to schedule two days off from our day jobs. We are always open to playing and love gigging more than anything else in the world. So if you’d like us to appear some time near you, maybe you know a promoter at a venue you would like to hook us up with who wants to take a chance on a little old band that make a total racket one weekend.

Sartorial Elegance

People have been asking us for new t-shirts for a little while now. You spoke – and we listened. Then we decided to do something about it.

From now, you can find a new selection of t-shirts to add to your wardrobe in a variety of colours and sizes. Choose from two different designs – one featuring a large and very cool octopus and the other with some funny-looking bats.

Go to our shop page or thescaramangasix.bandcamp.com/merch and behold their sartorial glory.

Those of you who have already purchased one (or two) of our new garments are already displaying their elegance in pictures cropping up. We’d love to see more of how these look adorned on your persons – why not send us a picture on Instagram or Facebook:
